SC4x4G Halloween Run
October 2011
Our annual Halloween Run was a good time had by all. Most of us camped at "The Campground" while a few were on Millionaire Mesa. By Friday night everyone had arrived and we set our sights on a full day of Saturday wheeling.
The Campground group departed @9:30, crossed Hwy 86 and headed over to the Mesa, off road style. Once at the Mesa, we joined the others and looked at Greg and Pam's cool new trailer. Once we hit the canyons below, our day of wheeling was a good example of notch carving, hill climbs, and rock rubbing - nothing spectacular but a good break-in for the first run of the new season. Mike's day ended early when he suffered a driveshaft failure and tore two rear link mounts from his frame. Other than that, it was a good day on the trail.
Happy Hour was at the Campground with our Mesa group driving over for the festivities. On Sunday, a few of us went to Slab City to view "alternative lifestyles" while the rest went wheeling. Our last trip to Slab City was in the rain, so we were able to view the inside of Salvation Mountain this time. Can anyone say Mushrooms?
